After warnings about the reduction of NATO troops in Kosovo, one of the most powerful European countries, Germany, has responded. Last Friday, NATO’s military headquarters warned of the possibility of reducing its security forces in Kosovo, withdrawing some troops and equipment.
In response to Klankosova, German authorities announced that this country is not planning to reduce its troops in Kosovo, which operate within the framework of the NATO mission. According to the response, the Armed Forces of Germany will continue their mission and engagement in Kosovo.
“The Bundeswehr will continue its engagement in Kosovo,” said a spokesman for the Command of the Armed Forces of Germany. Also, a few days ago, the German Bundestag also voted for the continuation of its mission in KFOR.
By the way, on Friday 12 June, it has been reported that since the security situation in Kosovo remains generally stable, NATO will optimize the presence of KFOR in Kosovo and will gradually adapt the current number of its troops during the next year. This was stated by the General of the US Air Force, Alexus G. Grynkeëich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).
