The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has stated that his country will sign important contracts for the supply of weapons and military equipment in the coming days, with the aim of further strengthening defense capacities, reports Anadolu.
“In the coming days, we will sign large and very important contracts for the further supply of weapons and military equipment, while important visits await us during which additional contracts with other countries will be agreed upon,” Vučić said after a meeting. with the top leaders of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Serbia.
He emphasized that large orders have already been placed for the army and that the state of material reserves and the level of replenishment, both with personnel and equipment, is significantly better than at the beginning of the year.
According to him, it is planned to raise the capacities of the Army of Serbia to a higher level, including the development of multi-layered air defense and the improvement of the systems of surveillance.
“We will have such capacities that nothing will be able to go unnoticed, from strategic aviation in the region to other activities at great distances”, Vuçic said.
He added that the amounts of weaponry and equipment will increase as well as the power and range of action of military systems. The Serbian president emphasized that the development of the army will continue in this direction.
A special focus this year, according to him, will be the increase in the production of drones as well as the robotization and digitalization of the army. “I expect a significant increase in the production of drones, but also strong progress in the robotization and digitization of our army, which will further improve its capacities,” Vucic said.
