However, Trump did not give a clear message on whether the ceasefire will be extended.

Asked about the next round of direct talks, Trump said it would take place “probably over the weekend.” He said the deal would be announced “pretty soon,” adding: “This will give us free oil and the Straits Free Hormuz. Everything will be fine and I think the price of oil will go down to where it was before.”

His remarks come as the US and Iran are holding talks, brokered by Pakistan, to extend the two-week ceasefire announced last week, which is expected to expire on April 22.
