The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV), which operates within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, has announced that the slaughter of sacrifices, on the occasion of the Kurban Bayram holiday, should only be done in slaughterhouses licensed and approved by state institutions.

According to the announcement of the AUV, the list of approved slaughterhouses has been published on the agency’s official website, while citizens have been invited to respect the legal rules and sanitary standards in order to preserve public health.

AUV emphasizes that slaughtering outside the facilities intended for this process constitutes a legal violation and may pose a risk to public health.

“The movement of animals without accompanying documents, buying and selling or slaughtering in public places will not be tolerated and state mechanisms will act”, the announcement states.

According to the authorities, licensed slaughterhouses are under supervision continuous state and possess the necessary sanitary and hygienic conditions, including refrigerators and technical equipment for the treatment of meat.

Also, it is known that in all regions of the country there are sufficient capacities for slaughtering animals, while each animal is subject to veterinary control before, during and after slaughter by official veterinarians.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, together with the AUV, have wished the citizens the holiday of Kurban Eid, calling for a safe and healthy celebration.

For the list of approved slaughterhouses, citizens can be informed on the official website of the Food and Veterinary Agency
