40 cases of measles confirmed in Kosovo, IKShPK appeals for vaccination

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKSHPK) has announced that during the period April 16 – June 22, 2026, a total of 40 confirmed cases of measles were registered in Kosovo.

According to official data, 4 new cases were reported in the last week alone.

As for the distribution by municipalities, the highest number of cases was registered in Ferizaj with 11 cases, Prishtina with 9 cases. and Kaçanik with 6 cases.

In Fushë-Kosovo, 3 cases have been reported, while in Lipjan, Vushtrri, Shtime and Obiliq, 2 cases each.

One case has been reported in Gjilan, Drenas and Deçan.

IKSHPK has called on citizens to report themselves immediately in case of suspicious symptoms such as high temperature, skin rash, cough, lightning or conjunctivitis. in the nearest health institutions.

Emphasizing the high infectivity of the disease and the risk of complications, IKShPK has appealed to parents and guardians to verify the vaccination status of children and ensure immunization according to the regular calendar.

“Vaccination remains the most effective and safest measure for the prevention of measles, the protection of unvaccinated individuals and the preservation of public health”, the announcement emphasizes.
