The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has announced that he has declared “persona non grata” the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government of Serbia, Snezana Paunović, permanently prohibiting her from entering and transiting the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

The decision comes after the statements of the Serbian minister, which Sveçla described as a continuation of the rhetoric and policies of ethnic cleansing towards Albanians.

Through a public reaction, the minister said that Paunović has reconfirmed, in his opinion, the project for the ethnic cleansing of Albanians, linking this to the policies followed during the regime of the former Serbian president, Slobodan Milosevic.

“Snezana Paunović, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in the Government of Serbia, has reconfirmed the one from which Serbia has never given up, the project of ethnic cleansing of Albanians. In our era, this was attempted by its former boss, Slobodan Milosevic,” wrote Sveçla.

He emphasized that the minister’s statements are not isolated, but, according to him, reflect a continuation of a state policy that for decades has produced violence, crimes and efforts to expel Albanians from their lands.

“This language and this expressed aspiration is not “It is the continuation of a state policy that for many decades has produced violence, crimes and attempts to exterminate Albanians from their lands. Such hatred, expressed in threatening tones towards the constitutional order and sovereignty of our Republic, is unacceptable and must be severely condemned by states and democratic societies,” he said. Kosovo.

“As the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, today I issued a decision through which Snezana Paunović was declared ‘persona non grata’, with a permanent ban on entry and transit through the Republic of Kosovo”, he said.

At the end of the reaction, Sveçla emphasized that the time of ethnic cleansing against Albanians has ended and that Kosovo is a sovereign state with institutions that protect the constitutional order, territorial integrity and security of citizens.

“The era when Albanians were oppressed, massacred and ethnically cleansed has ended once and for all. The Republic of Kosovo is a sovereign and democratic state, with strong institutions that protect the constitutional order and the safety of every citizen. Any attempt to revive the ideologies of ethnic cleansing or to threaten the Republic of Kosovo will be met with a firm, legal and institutional response”, concluded Sveçla.
