Mikel Arteta is ready to make major changes to Arsenal’s squad this summer, wanting the club to show maximum ambition to stay at the top of European football.
Despite winning the Premier League title, the Champions League final defeat to PSG has highlighted the need for new reinforcements.
As part of the squad’s rebuilding, Arsenal are willing to sell Gabriel Jesus for only 18 million pounds.
According to “Daily Mail”, the London club has set a surprise price for the Brazilian striker.
The 29-year-old will be allowed to leave the “Emirates” if an offer of more than this amount arrives.
His departure would mark a significant change in Arteta’s attacking department, which is looking for more efficient strikers.
However, Jesus is not the only one who could leave.
Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Ben White could also be sold if significant offers arrive.
Arteta wants to avoid squad stagnation and, with Arsenal’s revenue expected to reach around £770m, helped by more than £300m from TV rights, he is seeking further investment from the Kroenke family.
After losing the final to PSG, the Spanish coach said: “We have to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. We have to show ambition because we are more than capable of doing that, but it will require us to be very ambitious, very quick and very smart”.
According to reports, Arteta aims to strengthen four key positions: the left wing of attack, a central striker, a right-back and more depth in midfield.
Real Madrid’s 19-year-old defender Victor Valdepenas is also on the target list.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have also discussed the possibility of signing Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, although both would demand large sums.
Also, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi are under the watch of Bournemouth’s recruitment department.
Another interesting name is Marcus Rashford.
The striker wants to stay at Barcelona under Hansi Flick, but if the Catalan club’s financial problems force him to leave, his circle believes Arsenal would be an ideal destination.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are also facing competition from Manchester United for West Ham talent Mateus Fernandes, as well as sensation 16-year-old Leicester City Jeremy Monga./Express
