The Basic Court in Pristina has lifted the one-month detention order for the directors of educational and health institutions operating in Kosovo according to the Serbian system, whom the Prosecutor’s Office charges with the act of influencing the free will of the voters.

The court had initially ordered the measure of detention on May 21, on the grounds that there is a real risk that the defendants, if released, could avoid criminal responsibility or repeat the criminal offense.
The arrest of the directors of Serbian institutions in Kosovo came after the leader of the party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, Nenad Rashić, accused Lista Serbe that he is exerting pressure and blackmailing his supporters.
He claimed that about 20 people who support him have been dismissed from their jobs by these Serbian institutions and that in the next period, about 40 more people are expected to receive a decision on their dismissal only in the territory of the Graçanica municipality. Saddle; Boban Petrović, director of the High School of Electrical Engineering in Sushicë; Millica Dimiq, director of the “Braqa Aksiq” primary school in Lipjan; Nebojsha Rashiq, director of the High School of Machinery in Preoc; Bratislav Llaziq, director of the Clinical-Hospital Center in Graçanica; Mirjana Dimitrijevic, director of the Health House in Graçanica; Sasha Mladenovic, director of the Health House in Lower Gushterica.
Radio Free Europe (REL) has also published the confessions of several people, who said that they left their jobs because they did not support Lista Serbe, but Rašić’s party. They had been employed for several decades in Serbia’s health and educational institutions in Kosovo, which in recent years are mainly controlled by Lista Serbe – the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo that enjoys the support of Belgrade.
On the other hand, Lista Serbe has denied these accusations, saying that it is about “persecution and intimidation”.
Meanwhile, in a response to Radio Free Europe, the European Union has announced that his mission for the rule of law in Kosovo, EULEX, is monitoring this case on the ground and expects a “fair legal process throughout the procedure, in accordance with the laws of Kosovo and international standards”.
Kosovo authorities have welcomed the reaction of the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office, while Serbian officials have assessed that the arrests were politically motivated.
