The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, is conducting an official visit to Uzbekistan, while he was received with an official ceremony by his counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports Anadolu.
In an announcement from the Presidency of Albania, it is stated that this is the first official visit of a president of Albania to Uzbekistan since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993, where it is emphasized that the visit comes at a time when during the last two years the relations between the two countries have entered a new, dynamic phase and promising.
“During the meeting with President Mirziyoyev, President Begaj expressed his conviction that now is the time for Albania and Uzbekistan to raise bilateral relations from the formal and friendly level to that of concrete cooperation, which produces tangible results in areas of common interest. This visit, Begaj emphasized, will mark the beginning of a new and promising chapter in the relations between the two countries. At the meeting, concrete opportunities for deepening the importance in the fields aimed at political, economic, commercial cooperation, energy, agriculture, tourism, digital society and innovation, education and culture”, the announcement states.
It is also emphasized that the Uzbek side promised to open their embassy in Tirana.
“President Begaj also acquainted his counterpart with the steps taken by Albania for full membership in the European Union and the union’s expansion relations in the region For Albania, the President (Begaj) emphasized that this is a goal, a strategic objective and a mission. We are working hard to achieve the necessary reforms in every area,” the announcement states, among other things. During the visit, President Begaj will also participate in the 2026 International Investment Forum, which, according to the Presidency of Albania, is an important international event that aims to strengthen international investments and cooperation.
