US President Donald Trump said today that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be “more responsible” with Lebanon as he criticized the scale of Israeli military operations against the Lebanese Hezbollah group, Anadolu reports.

Speaking to reporters in France, Trump said: “I had a great relationship with Bibi, but now Bibi needs to be more responsible about Lebanon.”

“I would say, of all countries, they have been treated worse, and they can’t defend themselves, and they have Hezbollah, which is a problem for them, so no, I’m not happy with the way Israel has handled itself with Lebanon and with Hezbollah,” Trump said in France, where he is attending the G7 meetings.

He emphasized US support for Israel. “Without the US, there would be no Israel. Israel would have been blown up a long time ago if I wasn’t involved,” Trump said, adding:

“Without me there would be no Israel, because no other president was willing to do what I did.”

The US president said Israel has fought Hezbollah “for too long” and argued that “a lot of people are being killed” in Lebanon.

“They should have been able to do it.” this even faster. It just goes on forever, and when that happens, it casts a negative light on the deal with Iran,” Trump added.

Regarding the impact of Israel’s attacks on civilians in Lebanon, he said: “You don’t have to knock down an apartment building every time you look for someone. And they’re not all Hezbollah.” Syria to take on Hezbollah.”

“I suggested to Israel that they let Syria take care of Hezbollah, because to be honest with you, I think they would do a better job of doing that,” he said.
