Russia and China have signed 20 documents covering the economy, energy, transport and international cooperation following talks in Beijing between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, Anadolu reports.
The two leaders approved a joint statement on further strengthening the partnership and deepening relations between Russia and China, as well as another joint statement on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations.
press conference after the meeting with the Chinese president, Putin said that Moscow and Beijing have built a stable system of bilateral trade protected from external pressure and instability in global markets.
He explained that the development of trade in ruble and yuan helps protect economic cooperation from “external influence” and ensures stability in trade relations between the two countries.
“Coordinated steps taken by Russia and China to pass payments between them, in generally between our countries, in national currencies have been of great importance. As a result, almost all Russian-Chinese export-import operations are carried out in rubles and yuan,” he said.
Putin also said that Russia is ready to continue uninterrupted supplies of oil and gas to China and that the Russian nuclear corporation “Rosatom” is completing the construction of new power units at nuclear power plants in China, as part of the wider energy cooperation between the two countries.
Furthermore, the Russian president described the Russia-China partnership as a stabilizing factor in international affairs. Putin also highlighted what he called positive results from the bilateral visa-free regime, which has boosted tourism and exchanges between the people of the two countries.
“In 2025, more than 2 million Russians arrived in the People’s Republic of China. Over one million Chinese citizens visited Russia,” he said.
