According to the head of Russia’s Security Council, Sergey Shoygu, countries around the world should reconsider keeping their assets in the West, as according to him, 590 billion dollars belonging to different countries have been frozen in recent years, reports Anadolu.

Speaking at the 21st meeting of the secretaries of the relevant agencies of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the capital Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan, Shoygu said the West has frozen about $590 billion belonging to Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Libya and Afghanistan.

“In other words, the money has been stolen. According to our most conservative estimates, Western countries have frozen about $590 billion belonging to Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Libya and Afghanistan,” he said. he.

He expressed conviction that “all leaders will draw the right conclusions regarding the preservation of national savings in the West”. Shoygu said that the freezing of funds contributes to global problems, citing Afghanistan as an example.

The Russian official stressed that due to the difficult economic situation, about 4 million people remain involved in the cultivation of narcotic plants, while the Afghan government does not have the financial resources necessary to normalize life in the country.

“One of the reasons is the blocking of Afghan assets by the US, Britain and Germany. The total amount of frozen funds is about 10 billion dollars,” he said. At the same time, he praised the Afghan authorities, stressing that they are making significant efforts to combat drug production.

“The area of cultivation of opium flowers and the production have fallen by more than 90 percent since the Taliban took power,” he said.

Turning to Ukraine, Shoygu claimed that Russia holds “firmly the strategic initiative and is steadily advancing along the entire line of combat contact.” He stressed that Russia is not giving up political and diplomatic methods to resolve the conflict, including efforts at constructive mediation. However, he argued that Kiev repeatedly shows an inability to reach an agreement.

“The main reason is the hypocritical support provided by the main EU and NATO member states, which are deliberately prolonging the conflict and supplying Ukraine with weapons,” he said. According to him, the main cause of global instability is the desire of the US and its allies to maintain dominance.

“The turmoil is growing in global politics and economy. International relations are constantly deteriorating. The main cause of the current unrest is the desire of the US and its allies to maintain their dominance,” he stated.

Commenting on the US-Israel-Iran tensions, Shoygu called for efforts to prevent the resumption of the armed conflict around Iran and for “opening the way to the construction of a new security architecture in the region”.
