The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that Russian forces have taken control of the settlement of Mykolayivka in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, reports Anadolu.

The ministry said in a statement that the operation was carried out by the southern group of forces.

In addition, the Russian Air Force carried out attacks using Kinzhal hypersonic missile systems against Ukrainian defense industry facilities and military airports, it said.

“Russian troops also struck the sites assembly, storage and launch of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Ukrainian armed forces over the past 24 hours,” she stated.

According to the statement, Ukrainian airstrikes were repulsed and Russian air defense systems shot down a HIMARS missile and 390 fixed-wing drones during the same period.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram that Russia carried out one of its largest airstrikes at night, using rockets and approximately 1,560 drones.
