The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has emphasized the importance of the Middle East-West Corridor through the Caspian transit, calling it the “modern equivalent of the Silk Road”, reports Anadolu.

During a media conference in Kazakhstan, Erdogan said that the importance of this corridor is becoming better understood every day.

He vowed that Ankara will continue to promote this corridor together with Kazakhstan and other partners for transporting cargo and energy resources to the West.

“We want to transport more oil from Kazakhstan, one of the world’s leading oil exporters, through our country to global markets,” he added.
