Saudi Arabia and Slovenia strengthen cooperation, focusing on Gaza and regional developments

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held talks in Ljubljana with Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, as part of an extended ministerial meeting that focused on the situation in Gaza and broader regional developments.

According to the Saudi News Agency, Prince Faisal and Fajon reviewed bilateral relations. Saudi-Slovenian and opportunities for strengthening cooperation in various fields. The parties also signed a general cooperation agreement, with the aim of deepening ties and supporting progress and prosperity for both countries.

The extended meeting also included senior officials from Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain and Qatar. During the discussions, the ministers discussed ways to strengthen regional and international security and stability, with particular emphasis on the situation in Gaza.

They emphasized the necessity of maintaining the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, its full implementation and ensuring sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The officials also reviewed efforts to advance US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and reiterated the importance of a the clear political horizon that leads to the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as the capital, based on the two-state solution.

In this context, the developments in the occupied West Bank were also discussed, calling for a halt to unilateral and illegal Israeli measures, as well as violations of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Ministers appreciated Slovenia’s support for Palestinian rights and recognition of the Palestinian state, while also discussing other regional developments, efforts to reduce tensions through dialogue and initiatives to resolve the Russia-Ukraine crisis. /message
