US President Donald Trump has stated that negotiations with Iran are going “very well”, reports Anadolu.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump was asked whether a ceasefire that includes Iran remains in effect after recent developments.
“They did something, not a big deal. We dealt with it immediately, as we do with the largest military in the world,” Trump said.
Earlier in the day, Kuwait said that the Iranian attacks had killed one person, wounded 63 others and damaged key facilities, including diplomatic missions, stressing that he “reserves the full right” to respond to the attacks.
Despite the tensions, Trump expressed optimism about the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
“I heard that the negotiations themselves have gone very well, very well in fact,” he told reporters.
The US president said there could be progress in the talks. with Iran “over the weekend”.
Iran, he said, is “very close to signing a document”.
