The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, reacted after the announcement of the conviction against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Haxhiu, in her reaction, stated that no judgment can change the nature of the war. "The war of the Kosovo Liberation Army was liberating. It was born in the face of the oppression, violence and crimes of the Serbian regime against the people of Kosovo. No judgment can change the nature of that war, nor undo the right of a people to fight for its freedom", Haxhiu wrote. She further said that respect for justice does not mean silence in the face of every attempt to distort history. "Respect for justice does not mean silence in the face of every attempt to distort history. It should not be allowed that today's sentences be used to relativize the crimes of the Serbian regime, to reduce responsibility for them or to create a false narrative," she continued. At the end of her post, Haxhiu called for calm, dignity and unity, adding that the Republic of Kosovo will also face this, as she called it, injustice.
