About 300 Serbs, mostly employed in parallel institutions financed by Serbia, gathered today in front of the police station in Graçanica, in support of the directors of schools and health centers who were arrested the day before on suspicion of exerting pressure on voters.
The rally started around 13:00 and ended after about 40 minutes, without incident. During the protest, there were no official speeches and no public requests were made by the organizers or participants.
However, a moment of dissatisfaction was caused by the appearance of Igor Jovanović, representative of the party “For Freedom, Justice and Survival”, led by Nenad Rashić.
Jovanović’s wife has recently been left without lessons in three schools in central Kosovo.
Jovanović stated that many of those present were forced to participate in the rally.
“I wonder if all these people have come to support 20 families who have lost their jobs just because they do not support the Serbian List, or have they come to support the directors who have publicly admitted to their employees that they have received orders, even though they know they are breaking the law”, he said.
According to him, the heads of the institutions have put pressure on employees by giving them holidays illegal from work.
“90 percent of these people do not agree with that policy. All of them are blackmailed, all of them have been called by their bosses from their workplaces to come and be present”, stated Jovanović.
He also warned of other arrests, saying that “all those who endanger the Serbs will be arrested”.
Otherwise, among those arrested by the Kosovo Police for threatening voters are directors of illegal health and educational institutions, as well as an assemblyman of the Municipality of Graçanica.
