The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa stated that the treatment of the activists of the Global Flotilla “Sumud” by the Minister of National Security of Israel, Itamar Ben-Gvir, is “absolutely unacceptable” and called for the immediate release of the detainees, reports Anadolu.

On the social media platform of the American company X, Costa made a statement regarding the treatment of the activists of the Global Flotilla “Sumud” by Ben-Gvir.

He said that they are “horrified” by Ben-Gvir’s treatment of members of the Sumud Global Flotilla. “This behavior is absolutely unacceptable. We demand their immediate release,” Costa said.

Ben-Gvir shared a video on his X account showing Israeli security forces mistreating activists in the port of Ashdod, where they are being held.

Film footage shows a female activist shouting “Free Palestine” as Ben-Gvir walked past, and Israeli police intervened, forcing him to lay on the ground. Meanwhile, far-right politician Ben-Gvir was heard saying “This is how it should be done”.

The inhumane treatment of the activists of the Global Flotilla “Sumud”, who were detained by Israel in international waters, has caused reactions from many countries, including many member states of the European Union.
