China on Monday condemned a deadly attack on a passenger train in Pakistan that killed at least 28 people, Anadolu reported.
The attack, believed to be carried out by a suicide bomber, took place on Sunday in the southwestern province of Balochistan.
“China strongly condemns the terrorist attack, firmly opposes all forms of terrorism, and will continue to strongly support Pakistan in its fight against terrorism,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told reporters in Beijing.
“We are ready to further strengthen anti-terrorism and security cooperation with Pakistan to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability,” she added.
At least 28 people were killed and 90 others injured in an explosion along a railway line in Balochistan on Sunday.
Police said the blast it happened as the train was heading towards the city’s garrison area.
Balochistan, a mineral-rich region and a key route for the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, has long been a hotbed of militant violence linked to separatist groups.
