Australia and South Korea will discuss supply chain volatility

The foreign ministers of Australia and South Korea will hold talks this week on joint efforts to address supply chain instability and issues related to increased defense cooperation amid the Middle East crisis, Yonhap News Agency reported today, citing the South Korean Foreign Ministry, Anadolu reports.

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun will meet in on Thursday with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong for bilateral talks in Seoul. Both sides are expected to reaffirm their commitment to work together to address common challenges related to the current situation in the Middle East and the global energy crisis, the ministry said in a statement.

They will also discuss efforts to deepen cooperation in the defense and defense industry sectors, it added.

In a related development, the South Korean government today began distributing monetary aid to basic livelihood security recipients and other vulnerable groups as part of efforts to ease financial hardship caused by rising oil prices amid the war in the Middle East.

The government has begun accepting applications for the funds, which will allocate 550,000 won ($374) to basic livelihood security beneficiaries and 450,000 won ($306) per person for single-parent and low-income families. above the social assistance benefit threshold.
