Israeli parliament approves dissolution bill in preliminary reading

The Israeli Parliament (Knesset) has approved a bill for its dissolution in a preliminary reading with the support of coalition and opposition lawmakers, reports Anadolu.

According to the Knesset’s official channel, Speaker Amir Ohana said that 110 lawmakers voted in favor of the proposal, while no member opposed it.

The vote marks the first stage in the legislative process. to dissolve the Knesset and potentially pave the way for early elections.

According to the Yedioth Ahronoth daily, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not attend the preliminary vote in the Knesset plenary session because he was holding a security meeting.

The dissolution bill will require additional readings before it becomes law.
