Pristina – Jahjaga stressed that the institutions of Kosovo are committed to the fulfillment of the reforms in the European agenda and the acceleration of the integration process.
Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, received today the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Mr. Johannes Hahn, with whom she discussed about the European perspective of Kosovo, the conclusion of the visa liberalization process and the SAA for Kosovo, the illegal migration of the citizens of the country, as well as the process of normalizing the relations with the Republic of Serbia, through the dialogue taking place in Brussels.Jahjaga stressed that the institutions of Kosovo are committed to the fulfillment of the reforms in the European agenda and the acceleration of the integration process, but said that Kosovo needs greater support from the EU, especially in the conclusion of the SAA and the liberalization visa process for the citizens of the country. She said that Kosovo must be treated in a similar way by the EU like all other countries, within the European perspective for the region.
Jahjaga noted that the priority of the work of the country’s institutions is the establishment of the rule of law and order, economic development and the reduction of the unemployment rate, which will stop the illegal migration, a phenomenon that has affected Kosovo in the last months.
Talking about the dialogue with the Republic of Serbia, Jahjaga said that its resumption and the reaching of the agreement on issues of justice, based on the laws of the Republic of Kosovo is important, but said that the dialogue must be transparent to the citizens and that all the reached agreements should be fulfilled completely. The EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Mr. Johannes Hahn, assessing the role of President Jahjaga, stressed that it is important for Kosovo to maintain the stability and the commitment in the deepening of internal reforms which will enable economic development as well. He said that the visa liberalization for the citizens of Kosovo has no connection with the illegal migration and emphasized that the evaluation process of the fulfillment of the criteria for liberalization will continue. Mr. Hahn said the resumption of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is of particular importance, because this will help the process of the normalization of relations between them even more./RTK/
