On Wednesday, the Central Election Commission certified the final results of the early parliamentary elections held on June 7, officially concluding the election process.

With the certification of the results, the composition of the new legislature of the Kosovo Assembly was also finalized, while two changes were reflected in the list of deputies of the Alliance.

With this decision, the constitutional deadline has begun to run. 30-day for the constitution of the Assembly. According to Article 66 of the Constitution and the interpretation of the Constitutional Court, the new legislature must be constituted no later than August 7.

The Constitutional Court has clarified that the term “holding” the constitutive session does not mean only the gathering of deputies, but also the completion of all constitutional actions that make the Assembly functional, including the verification of mandates, the oath of deputies, as well as the election of the president and Deputy Speakers of the Assembly.

In accordance with the constitutional procedures, the Acting President, Albulena Haxhiu, will call the constitutive session within the set deadline, while a preparatory meeting with the representatives of the parliamentary political subjects for its organization is also expected beforehand.

After the certification of the results, Haxhiu reacted through a post on social networks, describing this as the conclusion of an important process. democratic.

“Today, with the certification of the final results of the June 7 elections by the Central Election Commission, an important democratic process for our Republic is concluded. The will of the citizens, expressed by votes within the country and by our compatriots, has already taken its final institutional form”, Haxhiu wrote.

She thanked the electoral institutions and all those who contributed to the smooth running of the process, emphasizing that the constitutive session will be called in accordance with the constitutional deadlines.

“The trust given by the citizens represents a great responsibility and every mandate must be exercised with integrity, accountability and dedication in the service of the public interest, democracy and the future of the Republic of Kosovo”, she emphasized.

The constitution of the Assembly will pave the way for the phase of formation of new institutions. After the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Assembly, the Acting President will mandate the candidate for Prime Minister, who must secure the support of at least 61 deputies for the formation of the Government. Meanwhile, the Assembly has 60 days to elect the President, while 80 votes are required to elect the Head of State.
