The UN reported today that there is “significant Israeli air and ground activity” throughout southern Lebanon, including air strikes, movement of armored vehicles and shelling near residential areas, Anadolu reports.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said during a press conference that “UN peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon continue to observe significant air and ground activity throughout the area of operations, including multiple Israeli airstrikes yesterday near several cities in the western sector, as well as in several cities in the eastern sector”.
According to Lebanese authorities, 19 people, including three children, were killed on Tuesday by Israeli airstrikes, he said.
Dujarric stressed that UN peacekeepers have recorded 348 incidents attributed to Israeli forces and 23 projectile launches attributed to Hezbollah, “with seven missile interceptions observed in the area of operations”.
He also said that UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) personnel observed “a drone strike, apparently by an FPV drone, about 200 meters from UNIFIL headquarters near Naqoura, in the western sector”.
“Peacekeepers continue to observe extensive Israeli defensive military activity throughout the area of operations,” Dujarric said, adding highlighted “dense movements of armored vehicles, large-scale engineering works and continuous logistical traffic, along with continuous artillery strikes, shelling, mortars and rockets”.
He called on all parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and implement international humanitarian law.
