Israel continues airstrikes in southern Lebanon, 9 killed and 13 wounded

At least 9 people were killed and 13 others wounded in Israeli airstrikes in several towns in southern Lebanon on Thursday, despite a temporary ceasefire, Lebanese media reported, Anadolu reported.

The state-run National News Agency said 3 people were killed and 7 wounded in an attack in the town of Jibchit, where a residential building was destroyed.

Toul city, four people were killed and six others wounded, while another residential building was destroyed.

Two more people were killed in the city of Harouf, where a house was hit by an Israeli jet, the agency said.

Israeli warplanes also carried out an attack in Sultaniyeh, while artillery shelling targeted the suburbs of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mifadoun.

Since March 2 Israel launched a deadly offensive in Lebanon that has killed at least 2,534 people, wounded 7,863 and displaced more than 1.6 million, about a fifth of the population according to official figures.

A 10-day ceasefire that began on April 17 was later extended to May 17, but Israel continues to violate it daily through airstrikes and house destruction in South Lebanon.
