LDK without change in leadership, Abdixhiku continues to be the leader of the party

The Democratic Union of Kosovo has decided that Lumir Abdixhiku will continue to be the chairman of the party again.

The decision was taken at the Assembly of the LDK, which was held on Saturday and which has already ended.

After the vote, Abdixhiku asked for unity and reorganization of the party.

“There are neither losers nor winners in this”, he declared, adding that his goal is to revive LDK.

Abdixik offered his resignation to the party Assembly, but it was not approved by the delegates. In the secret ballot, according to Tëvë1 sources, 164 delegates voted against the resignation, while 136 were in favor.

After the December 28 elections, in which the LDK secured 15 seats in the Assembly, i.e. about 13 percent of the votes, Abdixhik had warned that he would offer his resignation and that the final decision would be left to the delegates of Assembly.

Meanwhile, the member of the LDK Presidency, Avdullah Hoti, had considered his resignation as a done deal and announced his candidacy for party chairman.

The LDK assembly was closed to the media, so no other details regarding the discussions and the decision-making process have been made public.
