Pierre Richard Prosper, part of the defense team of the former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, reacted harshly after the decision of the Special Court, which sentenced Thaçi to 25 years in prison. Prosper described the verdict as a violation of justice and stated that the defense believes that the decision was predetermined. "Today we witnessed a violation of justice. It is clear to me and to us that the decision was predetermined", stated Prosper. He also referred to the testimonies of international figures who were involved in the diplomatic and military processes during the war in Kosovo, mentioning General Wesley Clark, Jamie Rubin and Chris Hill. According to him, their testimonies have presented another insight into Thaçi's role during the war. "At the Hague Tribunal we have seen history. We saw General Clark, Jamie Rubin, Chris Hill and the people who were there and shared their experiences with us. They made it clear that Thaçi was not in charge. But what we heard today is that the Court rewrote history", said the lawyer. Prosper also criticized the findings regarding the KLA and its relationship with NATO. "They are saying that NATO made a deliberate partnership with a 'criminal enterprise'", he added. In the end, Thaçi's lawyer made it is clear that the defense does not consider the legal process finished, stressing that "the fight for justice will continue".
