The mufti of Kosovo, Naim Tërnava, has reacted after the judgment against the former leaders of the KLA in The Hague, describing the decision as "legally contestable" and politically influenced. Tërnava has said that the judgment cannot change, according to him, the historical truth and the sacrifice of the people of Kosovo for freedom. He also expressed his concern that the decision could relativize the crimes committed by Serbia during the war in Kosovo. "Neither today's decision, nor any other decision in the future, can alienate our legitimate right to protect the historical truth, the dignity of the victims and the epic of our war for freedom and independence, nor can it diminish the sublime sacrifice of those who contributed to the liberation of Kosovo", he wrote. Tërnava. He said that he stands in support of the former leaders of the KLA and called on the citizens to maintain calm and dignity after the decision. "I call on all citizens to show civic maturity and high responsibility, to maintain calm and dignity, to be close to the liberators and to the values of the war, and to contribute to the strengthening, consolidation and functionalization of our state", he declared.
