Turkey ready to mediate for a ceasefire in the region

Saturday, February 28th 2026

Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Musa Kulaklikaya, has stated that Turkey is ready to mediate to reach a ceasefire in the region.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, he said that Ankara has been involved both in the last round of nuclear talks between the US and Iran, as well as in those of last year. According to him, both rounds were interrupted as a result of American and Israeli attacks.

Kulaklikaya emphasized that, unlike the 12-day war of 2025, this time the clashes are spreading throughout the region and risk escalating to very serious levels, endangering regional and global security and prosperity.

“We are ready to mediate with all parties,” he said, adding that Turkey aims to avoid a security and economic crisis that could trigger new waves of mass migration. /message
