Tirana – The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that the 10-year moratorium against exploitation of Albanian forests is another step for defending nature and avoid its further destruction.
“The barbarian exploitation for lumber and building, and the destruction of the defensive infrastructure, has brought us year after year to the edge of an abyss that we have been trying to avoid with several measures in the past two years. But now, after two years, we are obliged to impose a 10-year moratorium that will ban the exploitation of forests for profit”, Rama said.
The Prime Minister said that a direct consequence of this destruction are the floods and chaotic buildings.
Rama said that the moratorium is a request that cannot be rejected any longer, and that nature will have back what it deserves. Rama expressed his conviction that this moratorium will be implemented like that of hunting. /TCH/
