Switzerland has warned that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached “catastrophic levels”, stressing that harsh winter conditions are further exacerbating the crisis.
The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs announced that severe shortages of humanitarian aid, food and basic services are seriously endangering the lives of civilians.
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis called on the authorities Israel to ensure full access for humanitarian aid to Gaza, including the opening of border crossings to enable the large-scale delivery of aid.
Switzerland’s statement comes a day after the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Japan, Norway and Sweden issued a joint call with similar warnings about the situation in Gaza. /message
