The director of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, has stated that from the investigations into the criminal group that carried out the terrorist attack in the Ibër-Lepenc canal, two other serious criminal cases have been discovered, which are currently under investigation.
In an interview for KosovaPress, he stated that this group has been operating for a long time in Kosovo and that it is a well-organized enterprise by the secret services of Serbia, with the aim of destabilizing The head of the police confirms that there are other suspects for the attack on the evening of November 29 last year in the Varaga canal in Zubin Potok, adding that the Kosovo Police is following other investigative leads, Klankosova.tv reports. He emphasized that one of the arrested persons possessed a military booklet that proves that he was part of the intelligence service of the Army of Serbia, with the rank of lieutenant. According to him, the weaponry, equipment and method of action of this group are also related to two other serious criminal acts that occurred in post-war Kosovo. However, Hoxha has announced that the details cannot be published at the moment, because the cases are still under investigation and in coordination with the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
The Director of Police has emphasized that the method of selecting the target, the placement of the explosive, its quantity and the method of withdrawal after the attack prove that it is not a random act, but a well-planned and organized operation by the secret services of the neighboring state.
Hoxha has also spoken about the cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, of the United States of America (FBI), saying that the Kosovo Police has officially requested their support to increase the credibility of the investigation. He announced that FBI experts have come to Kosovo and helped in monitoring and analyzing the evidence.
According to him, during the raids carried out the day after the attack, material evidence was found that is directly related to the explosion in Ibër-Lepenc. He has emphasized that the forensic analyzes have confirmed that the DNA found in the fuse used for the explosion matches the DNA of the arrested persons, while some evidence has also been examined in the FBI laboratories.
The head of the law enforcement agencies added that the attack in Ibër-Lepenc is one of the most serious cases that the Kosovo Police has faced, after the attack in Banjska. According to him, the aim of the attack was to bring Kosovo into economic and energy collapse, as well as to create total insecurity, especially in the north of the country.
He added that the investigations into this case lasted for months and that the reaction of the institutions of Kosovo was quick and professional, making the production of electricity not interrupted an hour after the attack.
One year after the attack, the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo has filed an indictment against three people: Jovan Viçentijević, Dragisha Vičentijević and Igor Dimivić.
They are accused of endangering the constitutional order, committing a terrorist act, illegal possession of weapons and espionage, related to the attack on the critical infrastructure of the Ibër-Lepenc canal.
