Berisha is re-elected as head of the Democratic Party, receiving 96 percent of the votes

Sali Berisha has been reconfirmed at the head of the Democratic Party of Albania, after receiving 37 thousand 341 “pro” votes, or 96% of the total, ensuring a convincing victory in the referendum.

In a statement to the media, Albana Vokshi, the head of the Electoral Operations Commission in the Democratic Party, said that the voting process took place in a calm, orderly and transparent manner.

“Through a transparent process and with a high turnout, the preliminary data from the 77 branches of the DP have been processed. The total number of votes counted was 39,441. Of these, 38,902 were valid votes, while 37,341 were in support of the president Sali Berisha,” declared Vokshi.

According to the preliminary results, 1,055 members voted against Berisha, while another 506 abstained.
