Prishtina – The French have delivered today the guarantee of 500 thousand Euros and provided 100 million Euros in investments, out of 163 million that were initially required.

Kosovo Government and the French investor MDP Consulting- Compagnie des Alpes, the company that won the concession of the touristic resort in Brezovica- an investment that is expected to top at around 400 million Euros have reached a mutual consent to postpone the handover of the tourist resort to the French company. The decision came after both sides failed to prepare for it to happen during this month.

The agreement that was reached on the eve of the fixed date for the tourist resort handover to the management of the private company, took place due to the fact that Kosovo government failed to carry out in full its obligations, as foreseen on the concession agreement with the private company.

The Government has yet to pay the landowners, whose properties will be taken over by the French company- an essential move for the French consortium to being its investment.

As it seems the process of private property dispossession in the touristic complex of Brezovica, was partially hampered due to the political problems in Kosovo Assembly, in the government and street protests- events that were followed closely by major media outlets and reflected in the intimidation of foreign investors in Kosovo.

Investments topping 409 million Euros are planned to take place in the Brezovica resort. During the first three years of the project, 165 millions will be invested, while the project is expected to have an impact on the economic development of the country. It is expected to create about 4.000 jobs.

Five star hotels, new cable cars and other recreations are also expected to be built during this period./rtk/
