Chairman Artan Abrashi has praised the work done by the Municipal Assembly (MC) of Prizren, during the past year, when he also assumed its leadership.

Vetëvendosje has been leading the highest municipal body for a year! with its partners LDK, Nisma and the Bosnian and Turkish minority parties.

In a short interview for the “GazetaePrizrenit.net” portal, he said that the current Assembly is very different from the previous legislatures, as not only has there been more information on the work of the executive, but also the current opposition has been given the opportunity to express itself and debate like never before.

“The newspaper of Prizren”: How do you evaluate the work of the Municipal Assembly during the past year?

A. Abrashi: I consider that it has been a successful year of work for the Assembly. After the constitution of the local legislature and the establishment of the mandatory commissions, we drafted and approved the work plan at the beginning of the year. Plenary meetings have been called and held as scheduled. Together with the meetings called by the opposition, we closed the year with the excess of regular and extraordinary sessions.

2. “Gazeta e Prizren”: What are the most important issues approved by the KK?

A. Abrashi: In the 13 meetings held, more than 50 agenda items were reviewed and approved. Unlike the previous legislatures, we had more information on the work of the executive which resulted in numerous discussions and debates within the Assembly. This has resulted in the strengthening of the role of the Assembly in the supervision and monitoring of the local executive.

3. “Gazeta e Prizren”: How do you evaluate relations with the opposition?

A. Abrashi: I consider that the opposition is a valuable mechanism within the Assembly. Criticism, debates and suggestions have enriched the work of the Assembly. Unlike the previous legislatures, the current opposition has more space for discussions, a complete lack of censorship, opportunities to express themselves and debates like never before.
