Drugs without a banner in Vushtrri, the Inspectorate confiscates Demeprazole in “Ota Pharm”

A report of the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate, provided by Front Online, highlights serious findings during an inspection carried out at the pharmacy “Ota Pharm” in Vushtrri, where the inspectors found medicinal products without the Republic of Kosovo banner.

According to the official report dated September 26, 2025, the inspection was carried out at the request of the Regional Unit for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption in Mitrovica, after suspicions of operating with medicinal products not authorized for circulation in the market of Kosovo.

From the inspection carried out in this pharmacy, according to the document, 20 boxes of the medicinal product Demeprazole cps 20 mg, with serial number AI9091, were found, which did not have the banner of the Republic of Kosovo. The products were identified in the presence of the responsible pharmacist and were confiscated by the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate, reports Front Online.

The report states that for the product in question, a supply invoice from the pharmaceutical warehouse “Medimax” was presented, with invoice number 24-210-001-32213, a copy of which is attached to the file. However, according to the Inspectorate, despite the presentation of the invoice, the product was found to be without a label, which according to the legal provisions constitutes a violation in the circulation of medicinal products in Kosovo.

The document emphasizes that medicinal products which are not in accordance with the legislation in force or are found in unlicensed entities, are confiscated.

Also, for medicinal products without a label, according to the administrative instructions in force, sanctions with a fine and confiscation of of the product.

In the part of the findings, the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate evidences that “Ota Pharm LLC” is a subject licensed by the KKPPM, with the owner and responsible pharmacist Alban Mikushnica, but during the inspection, medicinal products without the RKS banner were encountered.

At the end of the report, the Inspectorate gave three main recommendations: that the pharmacy operate only according to the legislation in force, that the report be accompanied by a fine decision with number 10/J-014-25, as well as for the party to notify the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate in writing to fulfill the recommendations.

Part of the file are also the inspection minutes, the summary sheet of the confiscated goods, the photo evidence of the product without a banner and the copy of the supply invoice. In the photos attached to the file, the boxes of the Demeprazole 20 mg product can be seen, while one of them shows the serial number and the expiration date.

Front Online has sent questions, but until the time of publication of the article, it has not been able to receive an answer from them.
