A fire has engulfed an object in the area of Lungomare in Vlorë, where there is also a hotel, and as a result of the fire six people have been injured, including five citizens of Kosovo.

According to preliminary information, the flames first started in the bar on the first floor and then spread to the second floor, where the hotel was located, as well as to the facade of the building.

Head of Resuscitation at the Vlora Hospital, Edmond Breshanaj, has shown that five of the admitted patients were sent for treatment in Tirana. He said that the injured people are mainly from Prishtina, Lipjani and one patient from Reshen. He said that one patient received burns on almost the entire body surface and another on 50 percent of the surface.

“It was a very emergency situation. It was about 6 patients injured by the fire, who were on the second floor. Three of them had severe burns, while two others had been thrown from the second floor and suffered spinal fractures. We sent two of the patients to the Trauma Center, as they did not have burns, while three others were sent to the burn ward. The patients arrived at around 4:30. One of the patients, who was in danger of dying, had burns on almost 50% of her body. They were from Prishtina, Lipjani Shoot,” Breshanaj said.

To escape the flames and smoke, some of the people in the building jumped out of the windows and balconies. The Police Services and relevant structures have launched investigations to determine the causes and circumstances of the fire. Investigations continue to clarify the incident completely.

Vlora Police has also announced the case. She said that it is suspected that the fire was accidental.

“From the preliminary investigations, including the review of security camera footage, it has emerged that the fire was accidental. According to the police, the flames are suspected to have been caused by the burning of the electrical outlet of a refrigerator, which was located in the restaurant’s premises. The investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, is working to fully document the event and determine its circumstances,” she announced. Police.

A vacationer from Kosovo, who was in the hotel, narrated the moments of panic to “ABC News Albania”.

He said that he jumped from the balcony together with his fiancee to escape the flames.
