Four former KLA leaders sentenced to 81 years in prison

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague have announced the verdict against four former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi have been sentenced to 25 years in prison, Kadri Veseli to 18 years, while Rexhep Selimi to 13 years in prison. In total, the sentences against them amount to 81 years in prison.Thaçi, Krasniqi, Veseli and Selimi were acquitted throughout the trial and had challenged the charges brought against them.The trial against them had started in April 2023, while the four former KLA leaders were in custody in The Hague since November 2020.During the reading of the verdict, the Trial Panel made known the findings regarding responsibility. of each of the defendants and the relevant penalties. The verdict announced today is of the first instance.
