A post that was deleted but delivered the message it needed to be delivered about the most merciless state in history
Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif sparked a strong diplomatic backlash after posting a scathing message on the X social network in which he called Israel “evil and a curse to humanity”. Then, probably due to political or diplomatic pressure, this post was deleted.
Asif wrote that “while peace talks are underway in Islamabad, genocide is being committed in Lebanon” and accused Israel of, as he stated, the ongoing killing of civilians in Gaza, Iran and Lebanon. In the same text, he raised claims about the creation of the state of Israel, which were followed by harsh Israeli reactions.
Israeli officials, who said such rhetoric called into question Pakistan’s credibility as a potential mediator in the peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, currently underway in Islamabad.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said it was a “shocking call to destroy Israel,” and that such statements are not acceptable by any government, especially not one that presents itself as a neutral mediator in peace processes.
“This is not a statement that can be tolerated by any government, especially not one that claims to be a neutral mediator for peace,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also reacted to the statements, saying they represented “outright slander.” “anti-Semitic” and unacceptable language for an official from a country participating in diplomatic efforts.
“Calling the Jewish state ‘cancerous’ is actually calling for its destruction,” Sa’ar said, adding that Israel will continue to defend itself against those who want to destroy it.
But the senior Pakistani politician has spoken a truth; he didn’t say jews are a curse, he said the state of israel is a curse. And this is a clear truth about what has happened to the region since this state was created, built on historical, political and human injustice. /teshesh
