Writer Kim Mehmeti sees only one way out of the political blockade of the creation of a new government coalition. He sees the new elections as the best opportunity to move Kosovo forward.
“According to me, in such circumstances, the elections are a solution, because the people are given the opportunity to correct themselves, leading to the undoing of those parties that ‘undone’ the country”, Mehmeti assesses in a written interview for Express Newspaper.
In this situation, according to Mehmeti, the LDK is seeing the State as a stable (a place where food was placed on the animals) to feed the strong of the Party. Vetëvendosje is seen as a party that sees the State as a garden that needs to be maintained and enriched. Express: How do you see the solution to the blockade of the coalition between LDK and VV, which are blocked around the issue of the President, who will be voted in early 2021?
K. Mehmeti: I think that the blockade is not only about the issue of the president, but it is deeper than that and it also has to do with the confrontation of two political mindsets: that of the LDK, which sees the state as a manger from which the strong of the party should be fed, and the mindset of the VV, which sees the state as a garden that needs to be maintained and enriched.
Therefore, the LDK, like all the other parties that have extorted Kosovo, are afraid of the truth about themselves. Therefore, he equates the future of the country with the tomorrow of its leaders, with the positions that would enable them to protect themselves from the truth about the party and themselves.
And with this delay in the agreement on the formation of the government, the LDK achieved its primary success, that in the eyes of the people, it equates VV with itself, shows it to the people as a party equal to all the others, the party that is most important positions than the miserable position of Kosovo.
Therefore, I have the impression that now the VV has lost the game with the LDK. And it is losing the game, perhaps why the LDK has chosen to fight for the well-being of its leaders instead of protecting the good of Kosovo. So, the VV is facing an LDK which will not allow any important change to happen in Kosovo, because it does not have the strength to change itself.
Finally, the VV is facing the impossible – to ‘capture’ the state with one of its most ferocious ‘captors’, such as the LDK? And with something logical: to fight corruption even with those who have become capitalists by dealing with politics. So, the leaders of the VV have fallen in love with pretending that they do not know that only a thief can get rich from politics.
Express: Vetëvendosje is insisting that it is too early to talk about the President, while the LDK is now asking to define the issue of the Head of State. As a consequence of this, the elections are also being mentioned. Should it be an option to go to the polls again due to the disagreements of the two parties, VV and LDK?
K. Mehmeti: LDK is not concerned with defining the issue of the Head of State, but defining the future of some of its leaders, who have a past of political corruption. So, she wants to secure as many posts as possible, which will protect her from her misbehaving past.
Meanwhile, we must not forget that the pre-election VV became a shelter for some personalities, who, from the day they were born, have been party members and who today do not know how to do any other work, except to walk from one party to another, carrying with them the permanent bag of vote.
But I know that it is easy to judge and evaluate by being an observer. That’s why I say: Don’t be in the shoes of the President of VV. It honestly hurts me, because I am like a gardener who wants to revive a garden that has been neglected for years, where goats and goats have grazed freely, a garden that has been filled with wild pastures. Of course, as such a gardener, it is not easy for you to stop the “animals” from coming to graze where for years they have been eating unhindered by anyone and it is impossible not to get your hands bloody while cleaning the flower garden from thorny pastures.
According to me, in such circumstances, elections are a solution, because the people are given the opportunity to correct themselves, leading to the undoing of those parties that ‘undone’ the country.
Express: Do you see a consensual candidate for President or should the tradition of voting for the Head of State a political person continue?
K. Mehmeti: According to me, the inter-party game should be put to an end once and for all to elect president even people who even their relatives would not have chosen as the head of the family. And this is done very simply: with a constitutional amendment that would determine that the President of the country would be elected by the people.
But, apparently, no party wants this, because this would take away one of the important positions that keep the state close to the cradle, one of the positions that strengthens the party, but weakens the state.
Express: Who is responsible, if the country goes to elections as a result of party disagreements, since the voters On October 6, they didn’t vote to go back to the elections, but to form the institutions?
K. Mehmeti: Responsibility can only be determined by the people. And the one responsible will be the one who would lose those elections.
But, however, in ‘thieves’ countries, such as Kosovo, frequent elections are a depletion of the state budget, but also an enrichment of multiparty political awareness and culture, as well as cleaning the country of party ‘scum’. So, they can be opportunities for the people to see and correct their mistakes.
