Priština – International organization Transparency International has ranked Kosova among the most corrupt countries in the world.

The latest report of this organization stresses that in Kosova there’s a culture of impunity for officials involved in corruption affairs.

The report also criticizes state institutions, considering them as unstable in the fight against this phenomenon.

This time, Transparency International has ranked Kosova 103rd in the world in terms of the level of corruption, placing it among the most corrupt countries of the world.

“Kosova has not made progress compared to other countries and in many aspects, it’s similar to Albania”, the report says.

Head of the Agency Against Corruption, Hasan Preteni, says that for 17 years, there hasn’t been a single trial against senior officials for corruption in Kosova.

“Corruption cases relate to lower ranking officials. If the court reports that there have been 30 cases of corruption, the citizens do not know who are these officials. These cases of corruption must not be neglected, but we know that there haven’t been trials against senior officials after the war”, Preteni says.

This culture of impunity of corruption in high circles has had an impact in the economic development of the country and the loss of perspective among young people. Within a few months in 2015, tens of thousands of young people have left Kosova to reach the EU countries.

In all of its reports, the EU has stressed that corruption is a big problem in Kosova./IBNA/
