Prishtina – Kosovo leaders have congratulated Austrian People’s Party leader Sebastian Kurz on winning the parliamentary elections in his country. Kurz as Austrian foreign minister, is known for his support to Kosovo’s independence and the EU integration process of Kosovo and the region.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci congratulated on Monday new chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz. “Congratulations Sebastian Kurz. Austria has been a strong supporter of progress and stability in Balkans. You’ll have partners in Kosovo,” Thaci tweeted. According to election results Kurz’s People’s Party (OeVP) has won around 31.5% of the vote in Austria’s general election, reports Express.

Deputy prime minister and former minister of foreign affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, has also congratulated Kurz writing in Twitter that Kosovo authorities are looking forward continuing successful cooperation with Austria. Also former prime minister and chairman of the opposition Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa, congratulated Kurz stating that this is good news for Austria and the EU. In a statement posted in his Facebook Mustafa said that he expects Austria will continue to support Kosovo.
