Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov today called the successful test of the intercontinental nuclear ballistic missile “Sarmat” a major event, as announced the day before, reports Anadolu.

Speaking at a press conference in Moscow, Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin himself gave a very high assessment to the launch of the Sarmat missile, calling it “a major event” for the entire country and for ensuring the security of the country. Russia for many years to come.

“The president himself, the head of state gave a very high assessment of this great achievement and this launch. Indeed, this is a very important event for the whole country and for the security of our country for many, many years to come,” he said.

Russia notifies other countries about launches such as yesterday’s Sarmat test, Peskov added, noting that a special notification system works in accordance “Of course, all such launches are carried out with notification. A special notification system operates in strict accordance with the existing international practice,” he said. Ukraine, Peskov said that in order for such talks to begin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must order Ukrainian troops to cease fire and leave Russian regions.

“Zelenskyy must order the armed forces of Ukraine to cease fire and leave the territory of Donbass and the territory of Russian regions,” he said.

“At that moment a ceasefire will begin and the parties will be in able to calmly engage in negotiations, which, by the way, will inevitably be very difficult and contain a large number of important details”, he emphasized.

Asked if Russia is considering possible cooperation with the US in connection with the Nord Stream gas pipelines if the Americans would buy the part of the infrastructure that belongs to the Europeans, Peskov said that the two countries could cooperate on a wide range of economic projects useful for both sides.

Moscow hopes that either a resolution of the Ukrainian conflict or Washington’s decision to stop linking progress in bilateral relations to the Ukrainian issue will pave the way for such cooperation, he noted.

“As the American side gets ready not to associate the prospect of normalizing trade and economic relations with the Ukrainian solution or as the Ukrainian solution is achieved, we hope that the path to the implementation of a number of economic projects will be opened”, Peskov said.
