MCC grants, powerful impact on Kosovo development

Pristina – Prime Minister Isa Mustafa had last night a phone conversation with the chief executive of US governmental agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Dana J. Hyde.


Ms Hyde confirmed to the PM that Kosovo was selected to benefit powerful support through investing grants from the agency, which is headed by the Secretary of State of the United States, John Kerry.

The decision was taken at the MCC Board meeting and it will enable financing of important sectors for the development of the country, Mustafa has observed.

Kosovo will be getting the multi-year investment grants, in the framework of the program ‘Compact’ which will focus on sustainable economic growth, creation of jobs, strengthening of the rule of law, fight against corruption and many other aspects. The assistance program will be determined in the future, when experts from Kosovo and MCC will be meeting to discuss details and coordination.

Prime Minister Mustafa expressed the deep gratitude of Kosovo citizens and Government for the extraordinary support that the United States is constantly providing in all areas of life in Kosovo.

Mustafa also observed that the MCC foreseen support to Kosovo will have a very important impact on the sustainable economic development, good governance and reforms to strengthen the rule of law in Kosovo, in the tough combat against corruption and organized crime as well as in the overall development of the country.
