New twist in Hormuz

Saturday, April 18th 2026

The Joint Military Command of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement claiming that control over the Strait of Hormuz has now “returned to its previous state”, after the Americans said their move to unblock the strait did not mean an end to the US blockade of Iranian ports.

Below is Iran’s military statement in full:

“The Republic The Islamic Republic of Iran, after previous agreements reached in negotiations, has agreed in good faith to the controlled passage of a limited number of oil tankers and commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Unfortunately, the Americans continue the so-called blockade.

Because of this, control over the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state and this strategic strait is under the strict administration and control of the forces of armed forces.

Until the US ensures full freedom of passage for ships from Iran to and from destinations in Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain under strict control and in its previous state,” the Iranians announced.

A day ago, Tehran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, immediately affecting the reduction of oil prices in world markets. Now this Strait has turned into a battleground between Iran and the USA, costing the entire world economy. /tesheshi.com/
