The key to the Vlora plant continues to be the position of the Government of Kosovo regarding the call of the USA to join the strategic LNG project. This position was reiterated on Tuesday in an interview on ATV by the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli.

According to Rizvanolli, when discussing this topic, we cannot talk about Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the same way as about Kosovo, since Kosovo has never imported Russian gas. “Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, because Kosovo has never imported Russian gas. From which gas will we become independent,” said Rizvanolli.

Although Kosovo does not import Russian gas, it imports electricity from countries that are dependent on Russian gas. Asked about the millions that are imported, Rizvanolli explained that the data of the Customs of the Republic of Kosovo are not accurate, since according to her, the electricity that transits through Kosovo is also included.

“The import figures are not accurate. The figures of the Customs that everyone refers to are figures that include the energy that transits through Kosovo. The real figure is 30-40% lower, depending on in which year are you looking at it”, said Rizvanolli.

Further in this interview, Government Minister Kurti said that there is currently no specific concept and, according to her, the decision on this issue cannot be made either based on the euphoria of televised debates or on the pre-election discussions.

“We must be clear, there is no project on the table that we are talking about talk about gas, start with that and explain what they are thinking about gas”, said Rizvanolli on ATV.

When asked if this position of the Kurti Government means that Kosovo will not build a gas network within the country, Rizvanolli said that this “is not the position” and that a decision will be made that will be transparent.

“It will be done taking into account political considerations and economic considerations”, he added.

According to Rizvanolli, as far as this topic is concerned, there is no discussion as to whether Kosovo is with America or with Russia.

The minister said that for the project in question things will certainly be looked at with a magnifying glass in terms of whether it suits Kosovo, but also taking into account the strategic aspect. strategic decisions should be taken in such a way that the citizens know how much it will cost us as citizens. I cannot say a position for today, since we do not have a concept for the project,” said Rizvanolli.
