The defense of Xelal Sveçla, the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, has shown disagreement and dissatisfaction with the judge’s decision called “unusual” to find her client guilty.
Lawyer Laur Prenaj said that he will appeal, after receiving the full decision.
A little earlier, the Basic Court in Pristina, found Sveçla guilty for throwing gas. tearful in the Assembly of Kosovo, in 2018.
“The court announced its decision, but there is a half-decision, we have to wait for the reasoned decision. This is unusual in practice, but nevertheless we know to wait, also we will definitely use the right of appeal until then we have nothing to comment”, said Prenaj.
According to him, the indictment against Sweden had problems from beginning.
“We have said in the initial review that this indictment had many problems, and we must wait for the court’s reasoning on where it was based”, he said.
How much Sveçla has been sentenced is expected to be known on September 8 at 9:00 a.m. when another session has been scheduled in connection with this case.
Last week, another minister in charge of the government of the Republic of Kosovo, the one of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca was found not guilty in connection with a similar indictment – for throwing tear gas, in a Parliament session in 2016.
