The President of Syria, Ahmad al-Sharaa, today marked the first anniversary of taking office, vowing to build the country’s future on justice, stability and comprehensive development, reports Anadolu.
In a message on the American social network X, Sharaa said that it has been a year since he assumed responsibility for leading the country, recalling the sacrifices and patience shown by Syrians across the country.
“It has been a year since I received the trust of the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic”, he said. “I recall the sacrifices of Syrians and their steadfastness in all fields, and I ask God to help me fulfill this faith,” Sharaa added.
Sharaa emphasized that the future of Syria will be shaped together, on the basis of stable justice, long-term stability and comprehensive development.
“We shape the future together, with steadfast justice, stable stability and comprehensive development that restores Syria’s position and fulfills ambitions of its people,” he added.
On January 29, 2025, the Military Operations Command announced that Sharaa had assumed the role of president of Syria for a transitional period, following the overthrow of the Assad regime in December 2024.
From dismantling the power structures of the previous regime to reestablishing control over territory and energy resources, the first year of Sharaas has been characterized by decisive political steps, ambitious economic reforms and intensive diplomatic engagement, as Syria has entered what officials describe as a “new era”, focused on unity, reconstruction and stability.
