The Regional Police of Prizren has provided details regarding the case of the police officer from Prizren, who was found without signs of life in the border village of Morinë, in the territory of the Republic of Albania, Gazeta e Prizren reports.
According to the official announcement, today, July 22, 2026, the Police of Kosovo was informed by the Police of the Republic of Albania that at around 08:25, in the cemetery of the village of Morinë, a citizen with the initials Sh.H., 35 years old, resident in Prizren, was found without signs of life.
Sources of the Prizren Gazette inform that the victim is Shaban Hajdari, a police officer in the Rapid Response of the Kosovo Police in Prizren.
The spokesperson of the Regional Police in Prizren, Shaqir Bytyqi, confirmed that the Kosovo Police officials have gone to the scene, where the victim was identified. He confirmed that the 35-year-old was a police officer in the Rapid Response Unit in Prizren.
According to the investigative actions taken so far by the Police of the Republic of Albania, it is suspected that the 35-year-old committed suicide with a firearm (pistol). The weapon was seized as material evidence by the competent authorities.
Bytyqi informed the Prizren Gazette that at the time it was found, the police officer was not wearing an official uniform. He added that the alarm about his disappearance was raised after he did not show up at the workplace for two days in a row, without notifying neither his family nor his superiors.
The Kosovo Police has made it known that it is in constant contact and coordination with the Police of the Republic of Albania, with the aim of providing evidence and fully elucidating the circumstances of this case.
